Jessy El Murr is a multimedia journalist, writer and moderator with a special interest in social media and Arab youth.
El Murr currently produces and presents Sky News Arabia’s Taghreedat Al Sabah which highlights digital work and successes of Arab youth. Her work on the series helped the channel win the Dubai Government Social Media Award for 2016.
With over 10 years of media experience, El Murr is a Lebanese-American journalist who has reported for several international TV networks including BBC and Al Jazeera based in Washington DC before moving to UAE in 2012.
From NY to Geneva, Istanbul, and Beirut, El Murr covered major political, economic and military news stories including several U.S presidential elections and the international coalition airstrikes on ISIS.
In September 2014 Jessy boarded aircraft carrier USS George H.W Bush to cover the international coalition strikes on ISIS locations in Syria and Iraq. Jessy witnessed and reported the US Navy F18 fighter jets leading the airstrikes, thus delivering insight into both the military and logistical challenges facing the mission.
In 2012, she was the first Arab female reporter to complete an embed with US Army Troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan reporting on the NATO troops withdrawal for SKY News Arabia.
El Murr has interviewed a wide range of high ranking military officials and foreign dignitaries.
She is fluent in English, Arabic and French and holds a Master’s degree in Integrated Journalism from Emerson College in Boston, USABook this speaker
