I have been fortunate enough to speak all over the world, and whenever I’m asked for a bio I feel torn. It would be very easy to write down what I do, and a list of accomplishments along my journey, but that doesn’t adequately tell you who I am. I am the youngest son of Bobby and Tina Thomas. That sentence is the most important in regards of getting to know Cornell Thomas. If not for my parents (especially my mother) I would not be the man I am today.
My father was a police officer and community leader in our hometown of Passaic New Jersey. He passed away when I was just four years old, but he left a remarkable legacy in his short time on earth. His work with troubled youth, and his accomplishments as a police officer were so impactful that they named a street in his honor eight years ago. When he passed away my mother was left with the task of raising five children on her own, and that’s where my life education started.
I saw my mom overcome insurmountable odds for the survival of her children. Her only mission in life was to provide us with a good education, food in our stomachs, and a roof over our heads. My mom’s motto in life is everything happens for a reason. How she navigated troubled waters is what helped me excel in the game of basketball despite starting when I was already sixteen years old. It also helped me overcome a career ending injury right after receiving a contract to play professional basketball.
So who I am is a person that believes in faith, positivity, mental toughness, and solutions. For the past 8 years I have been the author of five books, two podcast, and seven Positivity Summits. (My own event) and have been blessed with the opportunity to travel globally not just sharing my story, but conducting workshops for corporations and small business’s.
