Andrej Kiska

Andrej Kiska is a former President of Slovakia (2014-2019), entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He made history as the first Slovak head of state without a background in the Communist Party, winning the election with 59.4% of the vote against Prime Minister Robert Fico. His presidency was marked by efforts to restore public trust, fight corruption, and promote Slovakia’s role in the European Union.

A strong advocate for democracy, human rights, and social justice, Kiska worked to bridge political divides, challenge extremism, and push for education and healthcare reforms. He actively promoted STEM education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, encouraging Slovakia’s economic growth and digital transformation.

In foreign policy, Kiska is an Atlanticist, supporting European unity and transatlantic security. He emphasized Slovakia’s role as a fair mediator in global discussions and advocated for compassionate responses to international crises, including the refugee situation.

Before politics, Kiska was a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded Good Angel, a nonprofit that has provided financial aid to thousands of families with children battling life-threatening illnesses. The organization set a new standard for philanthropy in Slovakia, raising over €30 million and engaging 176,000 donors.

His leadership and contributions have earned him multiple awards, including Manager of the Year by Trend magazine, the Crystal Wing for Philanthropy, and features in Forbes. Comenius University in Bratislava honored him with a Commemorative Medal, and as President, he received Slovakia’s highest state honors.

Born in 1963, Kiska studied microelectronics before pursuing business ventures. His journey from engineer to entrepreneur to president is an inspiration in leadership, resilience, and social responsibility.
