Dr Waddah S. Ghanem Al Hashmi is a thought leader in the areas of Governance & Leadership. He has the experience of being a senior executive as well as board director in several roles and organisations for more than a decade. Also, an author of many articles, conference papers and is also a HBR Arabia published author. With more than 7 internationally published books in Governance and Leadership, Experiential Learning, Operational Excellence, Safety and Process Safety Management as well as Human Factors, Waddah is an industrial academic with deep expertise in several technical and operational areas in organisations.

He is highly qualified as an honor's graduate Environmental Engineer from the UK with two postgraduate diplomas in Safety and Environmental management; two Masters in both Environmental Sciences and Business Administration in addition to a Doctorate in Governance and Leadership. He has also many vocational qualifications and certifications in technical subjects as well as in directorship

He is the Chairman, Platform for Connected Leadership in Dubai, UAE and also the Hon Chairman Energy Institute - Middle East.

He has previously served as the President - Professional Engineering Chapter - Society of Engineers - UAE as well as being the appointed Chairman, Federal Occupational Health and Safety Committee, UAE. He is a Senior Director at the Emirates National Oil Company in Dubai, UAE.

Waddah is a Fellow of IEMA, the GCC Board of Directors Institute, a Fellow of the Energy Institute and an Associate Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers in the United Kingdom. He is an Executive Committee Member (Board) the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and a Board/Council member of the Energy Institute (El) in the UK and serves as the Hon. Chairman of the Energy Institute Middle East Branch as well as Chairman of the Platform for Connected Leadership. He was, in the past, a Board Member of the not-for-profit Emirates Environment Group (EEG).

Waddah is married and based in Dubai with his family.
