Hashem Al-Ghaili is a science communicator, filmmaker, author, and four-time TEDx speaker based in Dubai, UAE. Hashem was born in Yemen and earned his master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. He is a full-time science communicator with an impressive social media presence, reaching over 40 million followers across multiple platforms. His Facebook channel, Science Nature Page, alone has more than 34 million followers and engages approximately 400 million users weekly. His viral science videos, collectively amassing over 25 billion views, explore topics including astronomy, physics, biology, medicine, nature, technology, and scientific innovation. Hashem’s influence spans YouTube, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, establishing him as one of the leading voices in global science communication.
Beyond social media, Hashem is an accomplished filmmaker and author. His award-winning sci-fi short film, Simulation, has received international recognition, and his debut sci-fi novel, Simulation: The Great Escape, was published in August 2023. He is currently completing his first full-length sci-fi feature film, Orbital.
Hashem’s educational journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan (2012), followed by a master’s in Molecular Biology from Jacobs University, Germany (2015). From 2015 to 2017, he led content creation at Futurism, New York, and managed the translation and video production team at Mostaqbal.ae, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative. His TEDx talks in Cluj, Rome, Zagreb, and Zorilor have addressed critical topics such as embryonic cancer therapy, the future of education, and effective science communication.
Hashem’s work has earned global recognition through media features, TV appearances, and invitations to high-level panels, including discussions at the European Parliament in Brussels and with Nobel Laureate Randy Schekman at Jacobs University, focusing on science communication and policy-making.
Combining scientific expertise with visionary filmmaking, Hashem develops pioneering concepts and futuristic innovations. His notable projects include the Sky Cruise Nuclear-Powered Hotel and the world’s first artificial womb facility, EctoLife. He continues to push the boundaries of technology and human knowledge through initiatives such as the BrainBridge Head Transplant Machine, Cognify Rehabilitation Center, and upcoming projects like the TimeShift Cryopreservation Facility and the Star of Arabia Space Elevator.
