Rohan Roberts

Rohan is the director of SciFest Dubai the first science festival of its kind in Dubai. He is the co-founder of Café Scientifique Dubai, co-founder at Intelligent Optimism and co-founder of Kindness Anonymous. As the Innovation Leader for GEMS Education, he is responsible for promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship across forty schools in the UAE. He is a Microsoft certified Master Trainer, a Google Certified Educator, and has won numerous national and international awards in the field of Education. He has a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Leeds and is a published author. He has organised several TEDx events and Critical Wonder conferences. He is a moderator for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and is the editor of Phoebus Online, an e-magazine for gifted teenage writers.

He is a voracious reader of Science, Literature, and Philosophy, and leads an Astronomy Group and a Science club in Dubai. Rohan is a prolific painter and has curated an Astronomy Art Exhibition in Dubai’s Bastakiya art district. As curator of Project Tesseract, he promotes Third Culture conversations among the intelligentsia in Dubai. As an innovator in Education he has created lesson plans and curricula for TED-Ed, The HUMAN Project, and is the author and facilitator of the GEMS Education Honours Programme and Jason Silva Shots of Awe: Deep Think.

He is an avid traveller and has visited 63 countries and over 200 cities. He has presented at Google EduTech, UNESCO Expo-Sciences, BETT, TESOL Arabia, MENA STEM Summit, GESS, and at numerous other national and international conferences. He is a regular guest speaker on national radio shows such as Dubai Today with Suzanne Radford, Talking of Books with John MacDonald, and on Classic FM’s Morning Show with Andrew Hosie. He has taught Astronomy at University level, is currently part of the Global Learning XPrize Street Team, and was invited to TED Global in Geneva in December 2015.
